I am a changed person because of many incidents that occur this year. Having to deal with the culture shock I had when I first enter polytechnic, my dog got run down by a car. The accident is very heartbreaking for my family. It has been with our family for four years and it is the closest to me. Licking my toes to wake me up in the morning, jumping around when I reach home was like a daily routine. To top it up, I had a boyfriend at that point of time so I neglected it before it met the accident.

The second thing that affects me was that my grandmother was very ill and had to be admitted to the hospital. The doctor told us that her heart and kidney is not functioning normally, she had to use breathing tube to help her breathe. Daily, she would complain to us how much blood the nurses drew from her today and there are bruises all over her hand. Sometimes, she is even too weak to speak. Lucky for me she has already recovered though she needs a walking stick to support her now, I’m glad she is back at home again.

Both incidents make me realize that I need to cherish what I have. For my dog, all I can do now is to miss him since I wasted my chance of cherishing him. I really wished that I had done more for him, bring him to the park more often, play with him more often. I’m really glad I was given a second chance to cherish my grandmother, I wouldn’t take her or anyone else for granted anymore.
